DEVELOPING PROJECTS to SUPPORT communities in Legenya Sub County

OUR PROJECTS

2014 - 2015

Although education in Africa should be readily available, unfortunately this is not always the case. As a result, in 2014 we supported the vision of GMHA to build a school in Mbale. We continue to provide resources and equipment to promote learning and development.

2015

Due to severe droughts in 2015, we were able to support communities in Sironko by providing food parcels and clothing to those most in need.

2016

We first met Susan in 2016 who has cerebral palsy. Through sponsorship, she received regular physiotherapy and was provided with a full-time carer as well as equipment.

2016-2018
Healthcare in Africa is a huge challenge, especially for rural communities. We provided the funding for a monthly mobile clinic equipped with a doctor, nurse and basic medical supplies to the remote area of Leyenga Sub County.
2018-2020

Through providing a mobile clinic for two years, we identified a need for a more permanent clinic in this region. We purchased land to build a medical/community centre in 2018 and successfully completed the build in 2020.

2020

Thanks to a grant from the Wales Council of Voluntary Action (WCVA), through the Welsh Government funded Wales Africa programme and a grant from Souter Trust, we have been able to deliver training on how to minimise the risk of COVID-19. The  grant also enabled us to train a team of volunteers to deliver soap, jerry cans and assist with the construction of tippy taps to 300 families.

2020

Training has been provided to 50 beneficiaries on goat rearing prior to the distribution of pregnant goats. Each beneficiary signed and agreement for the first and fifth goat to be given to another member of the community. The initial 50 beneficiaries were chosen from the most vulnerable within the community.
